NEW LEADERSHIP
Ed McGovern is a retired Federal Employee and has been involved with the Northern Virginia community since 1993. He spent his Federal and Department of Army career in Resource Management coordinating Funds & Manpower. He spent seven years abroad in Japan and Panama serving the Federal government.
Ed McGovern joined the Fairfax County Republican Committee in 2017 following his retirement. He is Newington Precinct Captain; and has worked on and supported campaigns for Republican candidates in Northern Virginia. Currently, Ed is serving his second term with the Home Owners Association Board and was involved with coaching and League Director positions with Youth Sports (baseball & basketball).
Ed is from Philly; it has been an adjustment with sports loyalties. He has a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Political Science degree from Shippensburg University. Ed likes his basketball, though his playing career was basically at lunch time. Ed resides in Fairfax County with his wife, Cindy. They raised their two kids in Fairfax County, and now their children also call NoVA home.
